Our Story
The Infinite Heart of the Collective
Every great movement begins with a shared "why." For Flourish Collective, that "why" was born from a 20-year journey of advocacy, motherhood, and a deep-seated belief that the world was missing a sanctuary where neurodiversity is celebrated as a strength, not managed as a deficit.
What started as a personal mission soon became a shared calling. Five women—each with a wealth of experience and a practitioner of heart-centered wellness—came together with a singular vision: to create a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming space where families and individuals could move from simply surviving to truly flourishing.
Shared Vision Leads to One Mission
Our founding team is more than just individual leaders; we are a partnership of practitioners who believe in the power of wholeness.
-
Danielle Cannizzaro brings two decades of immersion in the neurodiversity community and a passion for flipping the script on traditional support systems.
-
Jennifer Berlet integrates the grounding power of presence and emotional regulation.
-
Christine Alessandro provides the strategic backbone necessary to turn a heart-led vision into a sustainable community reality.
-
Starlla Duran adds the vital lens of creativity as a tool for communication and self-discovery.
-
Ashley Torres grounds the collective in nature, creating a path for growth through sensory gardens and the greenhouse.
The Compassionate Heart That Drives Us
We didn't just come together to build a program; we came together to build a sanctuary. We witnessed a system that focused on what was "wrong" and chose instead to focus on what is possible.
Our shared mission is rooted in the belief that when you blend professional expertise in human resources and special education with the healing power of the arts and nature, you create an environment where the human spirit can thrive. We are driven by a compassionate heart for the families we serve—because we are those families, we are those practitioners, and we know that a genuinely inclusive space is what our community deserves.
Together, we are Flourish Collective. And we are just getting started.
Mission & Vision
Flourish Collective is rooted in the belief that families thrive when they feel seen, supported, and connected. Guided by trauma‑informed, sensory aware practices, we champion true inclusion, nurture family wellness, lead with compassion, strengthen community bonds, and honor self‑care as essential to flourishing.

With Our Programs
Expressive Healing
Arts
Our Expressive Healing Arts Program offers a gentle space for self‑expression and inner discovery. Through creative exploration, participants meet their emotions, uncover their stories, and grow into deeper versions of themselves. Each experience becomes a step on a transformative path toward healing, wholeness, and personal renewal.

Mindful Gardening Practices
Our Mindful Gardening Practices invite participants to slow down, touch the earth, and feel the rhythms of our sensory garden. Through gentle farm‑to‑fork experiences, they cultivate presence, curiosity, and a deeper connection to the food and land that nourish us.

Holistic Movement
& Energy
Our Holistic Movement & Energy Healing program invites participants to move with the rhythms of the natural world. Through gentle, earth‑inspired practices, they release tension, restore balance, and reconnect with their inner landscape. Each session becomes an act of self‑care — a grounding pause to root deeply, breathe fully, and awaken the body’s natural capacity to heal.
Group Supported Employment
Group Supported Employment opens a welcoming path for neurodiverse individuals to grow, contribute, and shine. In this supportive community, participants build meaningful skills, discover their strengths, and step confidently into work that reflects their abilities and potential. It’s a place to be encouraged, empowered, and celebrated for who you are and all you can become.
Our Vision for
A Neuro-Affirming Sanctuary
At Flourish Collective, we provide a neuro-affirming safe space where neurodiverse and neurotypical individuals grow side-by-side. Our programs are designed to bridge the gap between clinical support and genuine community belonging, fostering a "parallel process" where participants learn from one another’s unique perspectives. By focusing on inclusive care and sensory regulation, we empower our members to become advocates for a more compassionate community.
Expressive Arts
The Vision
To transform art from a "finished product" into a living language of the nervous system. We believe the process is the prize—shifting the focus from what is made to how we feel while making it.
The Purpose
Our program provides a low-demand sanctuary for the senses. Here, we use tactile exploration—the cool pull of wet clay, the flow of paint, or the grounding grit of sand, poem exploration—to navigate "internal weather." It is a space to process emotions, build tools for self-regulation, and find a safe outlet to release toxic feelings that words often cannot reach.
Inclusive Connection
Neurodiverse and neurotypical peers create side-by-side, moving beyond spoken barriers. In this shared space, we learn to appreciate diverse creative paths and communicate through color, texture, and movement when there are no words to share.
The Journey
While the focus is on the soul, the hands are also at work. Participants naturally develop:
-
Self-Awareness & Regulation: Tuning into the body's needs through creative flow.
-
Tactile Tolerance: Building comfort with different textures and sensations.
-
Expressive Advocacy: Learning to "speak" their truth and needs through their unique creative voice.
Holistic Movement & Energies
The Vision
To cultivate "felt-safety" and deep interoceptive awareness through rhythmic, sensory-informed movement. We believe that true strength begins with a nervous system that feels at home in its own skin.
The Purpose
We utilize the concept of "Personal Islands" (dedicated mat spaces) to create a safe, predictable environment for exploration. Here, participants learn to tune into their body’s internal signals, practicing breath regulation and movement to discover their own grounding anchors. It is a practice of finding stillness within motion and calm within the "island" of the self.
Inclusive Connection
Harmony is found through authentic self-care. By normalizing the use of regulation tools—such as noise-canceling headphones, weighted lap pads, or sensory fidgets—neurodiverse and neurotypical peers develop shared empathy. In this space, everyone learns that "support" is a universal human need, and group harmony is built on the foundation of individual comfort.
The Journey
Through mindful movement and energy work, participants develop:
-
Body Autonomy: Mastering the ability to navigate space with intention, building both physical coordination and emotional resilience.
-
Regulatory Leadership: Gaining the confidence to choose the movement or tool that best supports their emotional state.
-
Interoceptive Awareness: Learning to recognize and respond to the "check-in" signals of the heart, breath, and muscles
Mindful Gardening Practices
The Vision
To align with the patient, grounding rhythms of nature through community stewardship. We believe that by tending to the earth, we learn the essential art of tending to ourselves and one another.
The Purpose
The garden serves as a vibrant, living sanctuary where participants engage in "Nature Grounding." Through the tactile work of planting, weeding, and watering, we move from the noise of the world into a state of calm alertness. Here, the garden becomes a teacher, showing us that growth cannot be rushed, but it can be nurtured through steady, mindful presence.
Inclusive Connection
In our ecosystem, every role is vital. Participants work as equals—from the foundational care of the "Roots" to the collective joy of the "Harvest." By observing the natural world, neurodiverse and neurotypical peers see firsthand that diversity is the inherent strength of any thriving system. We learn that every plant requires different soil, sun, and care—just as every human requires a unique environment to truly bloom.
The Journey
As we cultivate the land, we cultivate the self, developing:
-
Biological Stewardship: Understanding the delicate cycles of life and our responsibility to the environment.
-
Observation Resilience: Learning to pivot and problem-solve when nature presents challenges, building patience through the "waiting seasons."
-
Sensory Regulation: Engaging with the natural textures, scents, and sounds of the outdoors to find a restorative, grounded peace.
Group Supported Employment
The Vision
To provide a pathway for vocational ownership and professional dignity. We believe that meaningful work is a cornerstone of belonging, and every individual deserves the opportunity to contribute their talents to the community’s "greater good."
The Purpose
This program represents "The Harvest." It is where the skills cultivated in our studio and garden transition into real-world applications. From facility stewardship to market readiness, participants transform personal growth into professional pride, proving that resilience, when nurtured, leads to tangible, community-wide success.
Inclusive Connection
In this workspace, we operate as a true collective. Facilitators and peers collaborate on high-level tasks, ensuring that every individual—regardless of support needs—holds a meaningful and visible role. By working side-by-side, we challenge traditional workplace barriers and demonstrate that a truly inclusive economy is one where everyone’s contribution is essential and celebrated.
The Journey
As participants step into their professional power, they master:
-
Vocational Ownership: Developing accountability and pride through consistent routines, such as our "end-of-shift" checklists.
-
Roots-to-Harvest Systems: Understanding the full lifecycle of a project, from the initial "planting" of an idea to the final "delivery" of a product or service.
-
Sustainable Contribution: Learning food-to-fork techniques and facility care that promote both personal independence and community health.
